MARY GUTTERIDGE

BSc (Hons) Osteopathy, University of Wales, 1997; MSc Health Promotion Sciences, University of London, 2000; Diploma of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, LSHTM, 2000; Masters of Teaching, University of Tasmania, 2011

Mary is an osteopath with 25 years’ experience who integrates health promotion and education into a very hands-on practice.  She respects patients’ expertise regarding their own body and listens closely to understand their health needs, including a full discussion about the sorts of treatment that will work best for particular preferences, health problems and body types.  In practice, this means she takes a thorough case history to document individual experience, does a full examination, and then together with the patient agrees a course of action that blends their combined patient and practitioner expertise.

Mary is lucky to have worked in many parts of the world in various jobs – from book seller to zoo keeper - and brings that breadth and depth of life experience to her clinical practice.  This explains why she welcomes the variety of a diverse practice, but also specialises in complex and older patients.

When not working, renovating or cooking vast quantities of food for teenagers she writes, paints and gardens inexpertly.
